Arcane Code of Conduct:

The Order of Arcanes is an intimate organization whose members interact extensively in formal Order events and informal activities. Members are chosen through their magical ability and most importantly their character. All must be able to work and learn together.

  1. An Arcane must be trustworthy.

All members of Arcanes are responsible for upholding the integrity of the Order. They are expected to act with honour and dignity in any situation. Any member who misuses or abuses the trust given to them by their fellow Order members will be dealt severe penalties, usually resulting in an outcast.

The motto of the Order: "As One, We Are Strong" must be kept at all times. When trust is lost, this motto has been broken.

  2. An Arcane must respect and follow the Rules of the Realms.

A member who engages in serious violations of the MUD rules, including cheating, character hacking, illegal pkill attempts, harassment, or theft, cannot have access or control of any Arcane character. The Order may outcast a member who has violated these rules, especially where Immortal punishment has been received.

Any applicant with a history of MUD violations must disclose these incidents to their Scout. Should these violations not be disclosed upon application, the member will be immediately outcast, especially when these violations contrast with Order policy.

  3. All Arcane members must actively participate in the Order.

All Arcanes are expected to be active within the Order whenever possible. The Order understands that it is not possible to be online everyday, however, when a character is away for a long period of time (more than two weeks), it is expected that they post a note regarding their absence on the main board, or they must speak to a Leader about it.

The Order prides itself on welcoming retired immortals, retired leaders, and older players. These characters may, with special permission, be inactive and remain in the Order.

Upon induction of any character into Arcanes (a main character or an alternative character), it is the member's responsibility to submit the following information to the Order Leadership:

    • Main character name, any inducted alternative characters.
    • An email address where the member can be contacted.
    • If available, an alternate means of contact. (AIM, MSN, YIM, ICQ)

All information is private, and will only be viewed by the Order Leadership. Any Arcane who does not provide this information can be subject to outcast if they are not reachable.

All Arcanes are responsible for reading the general noteboard, active members should also read the Scouting board and are expected to take part in the voting process.

  4. An Arcane treats fellow members of the Realms with respect.

All Arcanes are considered representatives of the Order. As such, they are expected to treat everyone they encounter in the Realms, including Immortals, with respect. Should problems arise, Arcanes are expected to deal with them in a dignified and responsible manner.

Ordertalk may be monitored by Immortals, and all Immortals have a right to be there. As such, this channel is subject to the same basic laws as all other public channels.

Participants in Order/Mudwide events are expected to follow the rules set forth by the Leader, Immortal or Mortal supervisor. It is expected that all Arcane participants do not complain about the event or the rewards given at the event. If a serious issue should arise, Arcane participants should take their complaints or problems through the proper channels and keep things as private as possible. All events are supposed to be fun, and it is the responsibility of all the participants not to ruin the fun for others.

Any member found acting disrespectfully towards other members, Leaders, Immortals or players in the Realms can be subject to outcast.

  5. All Arcanes shall make their membership in the Order enjoyable.

The Order of Arcanes functions on the premise that all members must make their experience as enjoyable as they want it to be. The Order is a place to go to meet people, to participate in different events, and to further your enjoyment in the Realms. Nothing should impede this enjoyment. Should you find yourself listless or wanting to involve yourself more, please speak to a Leader or the Deity. There are plenty of ways for members to be involved, and we are always appreciative of the help.

No member should expect quests or runs. If you find there are not enough of these events, then we encourage you to organize a run, or create a quest. Please speak to the Council of Light (CoL) Leader should you plan a run/quest.
